Juan Polvillo’s artistic training exceeds twenty years of choreographic and academic studies with renowned flamenco maestros such as Farruco, Manolo Marín, Manolete and Matilde Coral.
His recognition in the world of flamenco includes first place for “tarantos” in the “Festival Flamenco de Ubrique”, Cadiz, 1991; the first place for “alegrías” in the “Festival Flamenco de San Pedro de Alcántara”, Malaga, 1992; and the second place for “tarantos” in the “el Festival Internacional de las minas”, La Unión, Murcia, 2004.
Since 2000 he has pursued his career as a soloist and choreographer, in shows such as “Contigo Tierra de Andalucía”, “Latido Flamenco” and “Compás a Dos”.
Throughout his career he has danced in multiple countries and for personalities such as King Hussein of Jordan, Hassan II of Morocco, the former President of the United States George Bush, the King and Queen of Spain and Pope John Paul II. He has also taken part in movies such as “Sevillanas de Carlos Saura” and “Montoya y Tarantos”.
In 2012 he performed before the President of Austria in the Imperial Hall of the Vienna City Hall, opening the prestigious “press ball”.
In May 2013 he undertook a tour of Central Europe with the show “Así lo siento yo”, and in April of the same year performed in the “pre-bienal de Málaga” with the show “Bailando al cante”.
Currently he combines his tours and courses overseas with the direction of his prestigious dance school in Seville.
